4 tips for staying compliant with AI and DEI laws right now

As a talent leader, keeping up with the ever-changing landscape of AI and DEI laws can be challenging. However, you can take steps to ensure that your organization remains compliant.

Here are some practical tips to help guide you:

  1. Implement an AI policy: First, work with your organization to implement an AI policy. Determine what you require from your AI vendors, how your company will use AI, and how it won't. Ask how your company monitors its use and ensures improvements are implemented along the way.
  2. Conduct bias audits: Check systems for disparate impact of underrepresented groups. Use software specifically designed to remove bias whenever possible.
  3. Utilize bias-detecting software: Consider using tools like Textio, specifically designed for HR, to detect and remove bias from people and machines. In fact, Textio CEO Kieran Snyder was invited to Congress to speak to legislators on the concerns with AI in the workplace.
  4. Work with your in-house counsel: Laws are changing quickly, and your in-house legal team is there to help ensure your company stays compliant with them. They can help explain which new laws apply, which don't, and what they mean for your organization.

Remember, staying compliant is an ongoing process, and staying proactive in addressing any potential issues is essential. We understand the challenges of navigating AI and DEI laws and are here to support. Want to learn more about Navigating DEI and AI legislation?
