Write here, right now

Today, we’re proud to share with you our new custom-built editor. It’s a clean and focused place where people can write in their own voice, assisted by highly contextual guidance that’s backed by unseen mountains of data science, machine learning, and natural language processing. Textio’s editor is the face of our augmented writing platform. It’s custom built to help you through every step of your writing, whether you’re starting from scratch, improving a colleague’s already great job listing, or just pasting in something that just has to be perfect.

We’re already changing the way people write, but there’s still so much more we can do. We hope you’ll love this latest set of features!

Five New Reasons to Write in Textio

#1 Automatically structured writing

Textio understands the structure of your writing, and gives appropriate guidance based on your headers and use of bullets. As you type and paste in new content, Textio examines the surrounding text and automatically creates headers and lists. Phrases like “Requirements” or “Qualifications” that are common in job listings will automatically be formatted as headers for the following section. Lines that work well as bulleted content automatically become lists. We think you’ll spend most of your time on what your words mean, and very little time adjusting the way they look.

#2 Focused on words and meaning, not decoration

Because Textio focuses on words and meaning rather than decorative fonts and colors, we have really straightforward formatting options. Textio uses quick and meaningful paragraph styles rather than the tedious character-by-character formatting common in conventional word processors. In job listings, your words and structure determine post performance more than character formatting.

Textio formatting is simple. There’s an icon beside each paragraph, showing its style. Just click the icon to see all possible styles. There’s no need to carefully select the exact words you want to change.

Each paragraph can be styled as normal text, as a header (two sizes), or as a list (bulleted or numbered). All of these styles add meaningful structure to your writing, rather than being simply decorative. When you want to add emphasis to individual words, they can still be selected and made bold.

#3 Spelling dictionary built from today’s best job listings

Textio’s Spelling Dictionary is optimized for job listings. Our intelligent dictionary grows based on the real words our customers use in today’s job listings. Textio automatically recognizes thousands of current company names, skills, tools, and degrees that are common in job listings but unrecognized by general purpose word processors.

#4 Clean copy and paste

We deftly handle content that’s pasted into or copied out of our canvas. We know that our customers are pasting all types of content into the Textio editor, so we make that work effortlessly. Say goodbye to all the fiddly formatting cleanup that’s common in other writing apps. Because we’re focused on content rather than decoration, you can cleanly move content in and out of Textio and use the final text wherever you like, whether it’s a plain text mail on LinkedIn, or a highly formatted and beautiful PDF.

#5 New job-specific phrases and suggestions

Textio’s highlights and suggestions make it simple to tweak as you write. Even before you’ve finished your sentence, Textio can point out that “partner” works better than “stakeholder” and lets you make the change in one-click. Textio is constantly analyzing millions of listings and learning new phrases and suggestions for specific job types based on real-world hiring data.

Textio is continually analyzing new job listings and hiring data and finding innovative ways to translate that insight into clear and actionable writing guidance. Textio’s goal is to help you write in your own unique voice, while letting you know ahead of time exactly how well your words will succeed. We call it augmented writing, and we’re super excited about the possibilities. We’ve got a lot more innovation on the way!
